As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), five major indigenous oil and gas firms have made a pledge of N30 million to Delta State Government as their support in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the state. The oil majors include Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, Pillar Oil Limited, Platform Petroleum Limited, Energia Limited, and Chorus Energy.
Head, Services, Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, Dr. Nonye Barrow, stated that the donation was part of the firms’ CSR commitment to their host state, to improve the standard of living and contribute in the fight against the pandemic.
She added that the donation would be accompanied by food items such as Two Hundred and Seventy (270) bags of rice, Two Hundred and Seventy (270) cartons of Indomie noodles (Hungryman size), One Hundred and Eighty (180) Gino sachet tomatoes, Two Thousand (2,000) cartons of Honeywell regular combo family pack, One Hundred and Thirteen (113) bags of beans, One Hundred and Thirty-Five (135) Kings groundnut oil, to help improve the host communities’ standard of living. Aside from the food items, the firms also provided the state with two Thousand, Five Hundred (2,500)) pieces of hand gloves, One Thousand, Five Hundred (1,250) pieces of protective masks, and a Nissan Pickup.
Dr. Barrow disclosed that the oil firms’ total contribution is Thirty-Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand naira only (N37.5m).
