Umugini Pipeline Infrastructure LTD Operations

UPIL handles and transports stabilized crude oil on behalf of Oil and Gas Exploration and Production (E&P) Companies to crude oil terminal facilities. Our 12”x 51.4km pipeline extends from Midwestern GGF facilities at the Umusadege area of Kwale to the NPDC manifold facilities at Eriemu, in Agbara-Otor, Delta State. This pipeline infrastructure serves as the main crude evacuation route to all our E&P clients within the Western part of Delta State, particularly the OML 56 cluster (comprising Midwestern, Energia, Platform, Pillar, Chorus, and Millenium). It also provides a viable alternative to the pre-existing NAOC ASE river pipeline evacuation route,  unlocking the bigger potential of all these E&P companies.

This pipeline infrastructure can evacuate 100,000bopd and has a matching metering station with a functional Coriolis meter, Lease Automated Custody Transfer (LACT) unit, and control systems. We have successfully transported several million (double-digit million) barrels of crude through this pipeline and LACT system. Furthermore, our pipeline connects to the Forcados Oil Terminal (FOT) via the Shell Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP) and NPDC Eriemu manifold. The pipeline design operating life is 25 years.

Our people are our most valuable asset and we have demonstrated this internally and otherwise. We have developed the unique skill set and experienced workforce required to run our business. These exceptional skills include:

  1. Operation and maintenance
  2. Pipeline integrity management
  3. Metering
  4. Terminaling and volume reconciliation reconciliation
  5. Pipeline leak repairs
  6. Crude Oil spill response
  7. Emergency response
  8. ROW surveillance & Pipeline Security
    Strategy
  9. Community relations

We achieved these through various human capital development initiatives such as annual training for personnel, veteran mentorship, in-house knowledge-sharing sessions, skill acquisition programs, etc. These strategies have supported the development of core competencies, which drive our business and have engendered new opportunities which hitherto were not doable.

Our commitment to promoting a culture of lifelong learning is stimulated by our vision of creating cutting-edge solutions that fill gaps in the midstream industry’s technology and operations. To accomplish our goals, we give priority to skill and educational growth. Our solutions are in line with best practices and regulations. These strategies are our best course of action, and we’ll keep setting new standards in every sphere of our operations.
